Knockout Game Gaining National Attention

CBS Atlanta

Today on Powertalk with Lorraine Jacques-White, we discussed the brutal new game many teens are beginning to participate in, which has begun to gain national attention from citizens and law enforcement officials alike.

This “game” is played by teenagers simply approaching a person at random and punching them in the face without notice in efforts to knock the unsuspecting victim unconscious. Some teens would record these random acts of violence and post them to social media sites and blog sites.

Currently there has only been one shooting and one arrest stemming from these random attacks, with many taking place in the city of New York. It has been reported that anyone arrested for participating in this knockout game will be charged with a hate crime.

Tablet Wars Heat Up As The Holiday Season Approaches

CBS Philly

By Ian Bush

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) — The tablet wars are heating up this week as Microsoft’s second-generation Surface and other Windows-based devices are set to appear in stores, and there’s an announcement from Apple expected tomorrow.

Another new iPad is expected to enter the market as the landscape of the market continues to change.

The full-size version of Apple’s flagship tablet hasn’t seen a major update since it got the ultra-high-resolution “Retina” display a year and a half ago.

“We’re going to see some big changes there,” says Rhoda Alexander, the top tablet market analyst for market research firm IHS.  “What we expect to see with that product is a much thinner, lighter version, taking in a lot of design elements that Apple did when they did the iPad Mini.”

The refreshed 9.7″ iPad likely also will be outfitted with the same fingerprint reader and quick processor as the just-released…

At least 3 chains, including AMC and Regal, are looking for a place to put people who just can’t unplug during a movie.
And it looks the back row of the theater may be just the place.
AMC says it would soundproof its designated texting area and put a barrier to dim the light from smartphones.
This all comes on the heels of Madonna being banned at a Texas theater chain for texting during the premiere of a movie in New York.
Is it OK to text at movie theaters?
Or should there be a designated area for people to stay connected?

The Korean company said such a curved screen smartphone is the first in the world.

The Galaxy Round will be released only in South Korea for now. SK Telecom, the country’s largest mobile operator, will start selling the handset Thursday for 1.1 million won (US$1,003) without a service contract, making it one of the priciest smartphones on the market.

In the next 18 months or so, we could see Samsung launching foldable display devices. That is going to be a game changer

Samsung said the curve will make it easier to grip. The high-end gizmo has some features that make use of the display’s curve, such as playing the next song in a music playlist by tilting…
